Police arrest three suspected Lagos carjackers, recover pistols

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended three individuals suspected of involvement in armed robbery and carjacking activities in the Alakuko area. Faruk Rasheed, 20, Olamilekan Ademola, 28, and Abidemi Oluwawemo, 21, were arrested based on credible intelligence. Police spokesperson SP Abimbola Adebesi announced the arrests on Thursday, stating they are part of ongoing efforts to combat violent crimes in Lagos.

The suspects allegedly specialized in stealing cars and robbing residents of their valuables. During their arrest, police recovered three locally made firearms and eight rounds of live ammunition, including two pistols and one revolver loaded with nine-millimeter live ammunition. The suspects are currently in police custody, while efforts continue to apprehend other members of the alleged syndicate.

However, specific details about the incidents, stolen vehicles, and victims remain undisclosed. The command’s Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, emphasized the commitment to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring public safety. The public is encouraged to report emergencies and suspicious activities through the command’s emergency lines.
