Police arrest three suspected Lagos carjackers, recover pistols

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended three individuals linked to an armed robbery and carjacking syndicate operating in the Alakuko area, according to a statement on Thursday. The suspects, identified as Faruk Rasheed, 20, Olamilekan Ademola, 28, and Abidemi Oluwawemo, 21, were captured as part of the police's ongoing efforts to combat violent crimes across the state.

Police spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebesi, revealed that the suspects allegedly specialized in car snatching and robbing residents of their valuables. Following an investigation, authorities found three locally made firearms and eight rounds of live ammunition during a search of the suspects. Two locally made pistols, with five and three cartridges respectively, were also recovered.

The suspects are currently in police custody, while efforts are underway to apprehend other members of the alleged syndicate. The police have not disclosed specific details about the carjacking or robbery incidents linked to the suspects, nor have they provided information on the number of vehicles stolen or the identities of their alleged victims.
