Premier League sets all-time record with £3.46bn summer transfer spending – Report

Premier League clubs shattered the all-time summer transfer spending record with a total of £3.46 billion, as reported by BBC Sport. English top-flight teams had already surpassed the £3 billion milestone before the transfer window closed, surpassing the previous record of £3.14 billion set just a year earlier. An additional £475 million was spent on the final day of the transfer window, compared to £391 million during the same period last year.

The figures demonstrate the significant increase in spending within the Premier League over recent years, with club expenditures rising from £1.13 billion five years ago to the current total. Three of the 10 most expensive transfers in football history were completed by Premier League clubs during the window, highlighting the financial strength of the league and its ability to attract top talent from around the world.

Even newly promoted clubs have been able to make substantial investments, with the spending by these teams underscoring the Premier League's position as the biggest spender in global football. Manchester City led the pack, with their late signing of Enzo Fernández pushing their summer spending to £458 million, setting a new Premier League record for a single transfer window.
