Dubai evening traffic alert: Heavy congestion builds on key roads towards Sharjah

Dubai residents will experience a sluggish drive home on Wednesday evening, with severe traffic congestion reported along numerous major roads leading towards Sharjah, according to Google Maps. Motorists traversing Sheikh Zayed Road (E11) en route to Sharjah are encountering traffic snarls around Jumeirah Lakes Towers and preceding the Third Interchange, with significant slowdowns before Defence Roundabout due to ongoing construction and reported accidents.

For those traveling from Garhoud, close to Dubai International Airport, all the way to Sahara Centre, heavy congestion is also a concern. On Sheikh Rashid Road (D75) from Karama towards Bur Dubai, heavy traffic is particularly noticeable near the junction with E11. Moreover, D88 via Karama is experiencing sluggish traffic flow. Along Al Khail Road (E44), heavy traffic is reported from Meydan Road towards Dubai Hills Estate, further delayed by accidents.

Additionally, congestion is building near the Dubai Production City exit, heading towards Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (E311). In the reverse direction, motorists are facing pockets of congestion around Al Quoz and Ras Al Khor. Dubai International City is also experiencing heavy traffic, stretching until just before Al Warqa Roundabout, with accidents contributing to delays.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (E311) is witnessing very slow-moving traffic from Al Warqa towards Sharjah's Industrial Area 15. A Dubai Police warning has been issued, imposing a Dh400 fine and four black points for truck drivers involved in a recent crash. Moderate congestion is also impacting stretches around Dubai Production City and sections of Dubai South.

Traffic on Emirates Road (E611) remains relatively smooth, although motorists face moderate delays around Al Awir. Heavy traffic is also evident around Tilal, where construction work at Al Badia Interchange is adding to delays. Drivers are urged to allot additional travel time, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles, and consider alternative routes as the evening rush hour persists.

The Abu Dhabi Police has cautioned motorists against stopping in live traffic lanes. Sharjah Police advises against dangerous merging following major highway accidents, while the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Police have reissued a warning about a Dh400 fine for improper fast-lane usage by Dubai drivers.
