Armizan: Political maturity key to keeping unity govt stable

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 31 — Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Armizan Mohd Ali emphasized that political maturity and understanding the balance between political rights and the nation-building responsibility are vital to maintaining the stability of the Unity Government. In a Facebook post on National Day, Armizan highlighted the need to accept the new political landscape following the 15th General Election (GE15) with the recognition that government stability is crucial for national development and people's welfare.

He praised the Cabinet's political maturity, noting that despite party activists "exchanging barbs" with each other, the interactions among the main leaders during Cabinet meetings have remained harmonious, constructive, and professional. Armizan pointed out that the country's new political landscape, following the end of one-party dominance, should be accepted by learning from the experience of three prime ministers and three Cabinet line-ups changes within a single term, as this approach is not conducive to sustainable prosperity for Malaysia.

He stressed that political maturity in the Cabinet should be grounded in the awareness that the political rights of individuals and parties must be balanced with the responsibility to build the nation. This balance is the essence of political maturity, essential for guiding stability in Malaysia's democratic and political landscape today and in the future.

Armizan also mentioned that National Day celebration serves as a platform for people to express unity, appreciate independence and peace, and commit to building the country's future together. Every citizen, including leaders, civil servants, business community members, civil society activists, and the general public, has a role to play in governance. Regardless of similarities or differences, Malaysia belongs to every citizen.
