Armizan: Political maturity key to keeping unity govt stable

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 31 — In a Facebook post marking National Day, Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali emphasized the importance of political maturity and awareness of balancing political rights with the responsibility of nation-building to ensure the stability of the Unity Government. Armizan highlighted that the government's stability is crucial in steering the direction of national development and the welfare of the people.

He stressed that political maturity, demonstrated by the Cabinet's leadership, is built on awareness and unity, leading to consensus and solidarity. Despite the party activists' recent disagreements, Armizan noted that interactions among the main leaders during Cabinet Meetings have remained harmonious, professional, and constructive.

He cautioned that the country's new political landscape following the end of one-party dominance should be accepted by learning from the three Prime Ministers and three Cabinet changes that occurred in one term from 2018 to 2022, as such changes may not be a suitable formula for sustainable prosperity. Armizan stressed that political maturity and leadership within the Cabinet must balance political rights of individuals and parties with the responsibility to build the nation, emphasizing that this value and meaning are crucial for guiding stability in Malaysia's democratic and political landscape.

The Minister also highlighted that National Day is a platform for the people to express their unity in appreciating independence and peace, translating it into a commitment to build the country's future together. Every citizen, including leaders, civil servants, business community members, civil society activists, and the general public, has a role in governance, regardless of similarities or differences, as the homeland belongs to every citizen.
