PM extends condolences to Norway over passing of King Harald V

Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended condolences to Norway following the passing of King Harald V. Anwar lauded the late king for his understanding of what it meant to be Norwegian, including his recognition of the country's diverse society. He highlighted that Norway comprises people from various backgrounds, including those with family roots in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Poland, and numerous other nations, who are equally Norwegian.

Anwar emphasized that a nation's strength lies in the dignity it shows to all its citizens. The prime minister conveyed these sentiments in a statement posted on his Facebook page today. Anwar also noted that King Harald understood the significance of an oath and the importance of adhering to one's commitments. Malaysia, he said, joins the people of Norway in mourning the king's passing.

King Harald V breathed his last on Friday at the age of 89 at the National Hospital in Oslo, following a hospitalization since August 17 and cortisone treatment for hemolytic anemia.
