GRS to lead seat talks, Hajiji says coalition preparing machinery ahead of GE16

KOTA KINABALU, Aug 29 — Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, head of the Sabah coalition Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), announced today that the party would lead discussions on seat distribution in the next general election, alongside its government allies. GRS, which comprises six parties, aims to field candidates with a realistic chance of winning the election.

The coalition is currently preparing its machinery at all levels and increasing voter engagement as it begins restructuring its grassroots organization. This restructuring includes appointing 25 division chiefs, with new appointees like Hajiji for Tuaran and Datuk James Ratib for Beluran. The move aims to strengthen the party's organisation, expand its membership, and improve its ability to engage with voters.

However, formal negotiations on seat distribution are yet to begin. PGRS stresses that while it is preparing for the election, it is also maintaining relations with parties currently in the state administration.
