CAPF rejects candidate for being ‘1 cm short’, Gauhati High Court orders to measure again

On August 12, the Gauhati High Court ordered the authorities to re-measure the height of a Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) constable candidate after discovering that his appeal against rejection for being one centimeter short was decided without fresh measurement. The petitioner had applied for the post of constable (general duty) in the Assam Rifles under the 2025 recruitment process, but his candidature was rejected at the Physical Standard Test (PST) stage due to his height of 164 cm, which was below the prescribed minimum of 165 cm.

The court noted that his original measurement of 164 cm was taken on August 26, 2025, and found that the appeal process did not indicate any re-measurement. Consequently, the court directed the authorities to re-measure the petitioner's height and communicate the result to him.
