26 years apart: Madras High Court dissolves marriage, but sets conditions over property

Ghana Gold Board Chief Executive Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, has formally authorized his legal team to accept the writ of summons filed against him by Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, according to an announcement made by Gyamfi's solicitors, Ayine & Partners, on August 26, 2026. The writ was initiated by Afenyo-Markin in connection with allegations of defamation, following his announcement in Parliament on August 24 that he had launched legal proceedings against Gyamfi.

As of the date of the notice, the writ had not yet been served on Gyamfi. The notice, signed by Seth Nyaaba, Solicitor for the 1st Defendant, on behalf of Ayine & Partners, states that they received "express instructions and authority" from Gyamfi to accept service of the writ and all accompanying processes. The solicitors have requested the court to record this authorization and update the relevant court records.

This move comes in the wake of a heated political dispute between Afenyo-Markin and Gyamfi, which has garnered significant attention from the public. While the notice does not admit to the allegations, it signifies Gyamfi's readiness to receive the court proceedings through his legal representatives.
