Bawumia sets up NPP committee to review govt’s position on constitutional reforms

Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, has revealed that the New Patriotic Party's presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has formed a committee to assess the government's stance on Ghana's constitutional reform process. During an interview on JoyNews' Newsfile, Mr Awuah stated that the report from this committee is anticipated to be finalized within the coming weeks and then submitted to the government.

He emphasized that the formation of this committee was prompted by the government's announcement of its position on the matter. The report, almost completed, is expected to be presented to Dr Bawumia soon. The committee consists of distinguished individuals, including legal practitioners who previously served under the NPP administrations.

Awuah expressed confidence in the committee's ability to conduct a comprehensive review and produce recommendations that would significantly contribute to the constitutional review and implementation process. This disclosure came in the context of President John Mahama appointing an 11-member committee to oversee the execution of recommendations stemming from the constitutional review process.
