BJP chief Nitin Nabin pulls up 3 MPs for visiting Sajjan Kumar residence

Bharatiya Janata Party chief Nitin Nabin expressed discontent on Saturday after three Delhi MPs, Kamaljeet Sehrawat, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri and Yogender Chandolia, visited Congress leader Sajjan Kumar's residence to offer condolences following his death, according to PTI. The MPs met Kumar's family to convey their sympathies in light of the former Member of Parliament's demise at the age of 80 in Tihar jail.

The incident follows BJP leaders' previous condemnation of the MPs' actions, with former Delhi MLA HS Phoolka specifically calling for a boycott of the three MPs involved. Phoolka argued that sympathy should be reserved for the victims and their families who continue to grapple with the trauma of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. He emphasized that the party had consistently supported its quest for justice against the culprits, ensuring they remained incarcerated.

Sajjan Kumar, a lifelong Congress member, was serving a life sentence for his role in the anti-Sikh riots, which resulted in the brutal murder of multiple victims and the arson of their homes. The trial court sentenced him to life imprisonment on February 25, 2025, alongside a fine of approximately Rs 2.4 lakh. Prior to this verdict, Kumar had been convicted by the Delhi high court in a separate case related to the killings of five Sikhs and the destruction of a gurdwara during the riots.
