Bihar Congress leaders to protest outside Delhi party HQ, seek Rahul Gandhi meeting, state chief’s removal

Bihar Congress leaders have announced plans to protest outside the party's headquarters in Delhi on September 8, demanding a meeting with Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and the removal of key party figures for their poor performance in the recent Bihar elections. The protesters believe that repeated requests to meet Rahul Gandhi have been ignored.

The Congress members argue that they have been seeking meetings with Rahul Gandhi from November 2025 onwards, but have been denied the opportunity. They had initially requested a meeting in May 2004 when Sonia Gandhi decided not to become the Prime Minister, but their protests were limited to 24 Akbar Road and Sonia Gandhi's residence 10 Janpath.

The protest aims to demand that the party High Command address the grievances of the party's rank and file. Congress leaders include former vice presidents Jamal Ahmed and Rajkumar Rajan, AICC members Nagendra Paswan, former MLA Chhatrapati Yadav, B Akhtar, former Secretary BPCC and former MLA Anil Kumar Singh. They have called for the removal of state party chief Rajesh Kumar and general secretary for Bihar Krishna Allavaru, as they have faced criticism from rank and file over the party's poor performance in the 2025 Bihar elections.
