Four killed as hoodlums clash in Lagos community

A deadly clash erupted in a Lagos community on Thursday, leaving four men dead and several others injured. The fighting began with a disagreement between a northerner and a suspected cult leader leader at the Power Line Bus Stop in Ikola, Alimosho Local Government Area. The resident, who wished to remain anonymous, reported that the altercation escalated into communal unrest, prompting police to request additional reinforcements.

The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed that four individuals lost their lives and multiple others sustained injuries. Emergency services, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the Nigerian Red Cross Society, and the Agbado Oke-Odo Ambulance Service, rushed to the scene to provide aid and control the blaze.

A joint security operation involving the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, and Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps was also launched to maintain order and protect lives and property.

The emergency agency urged residents to remain calm and refrain from reprisals or spreading unverified information that could further escalate tensions. A full investigation has been initiated to determine the immediate and underlying causes of the incident, with perpetrators facing legal consequences.
