The Google Pixel 11 Pro Still Has the Best Display for Gaming, but Other Troubles Emerge

The Google Pixel 11 Pro remains one of the top phones for gaming, thanks to its AI-powered Tensor G6 chip, high-resolution OLED display, and advanced camera system. However, the phone struggles with some issues in gaming, such as overheating warnings and battery drain when pushed to higher graphics settings.

This year marks a price increase for the Pixel 11 Pro, with a starting price of $1,099 for the 256GB model, up from $1,000 last year. Google attributes this to a RAM shortage caused by AI, which has made components more expensive. The new entry-level model now comes with only 12GB of RAM, down from 16GB in previous models.

In terms of display, the Pixel 11 Pro boasts a 6.3-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2,856×1,280 pixels and HDR10 Plus support, providing crisp details and vivid colors. Its 3,600-nit brightness is superior to competitors, allowing for gaming in direct sunlight. While other phones have improved, such as the Samsung Galaxy S26 at 2,600 nits and the iPhone 17 Pro Max at 3,000 nits, the Pixel 11 Pro still maintains a lead.

The phone's body feels polished, though some players may find the metal frame slightly slippery when gaming. The camera bump on the back provides a good grip, but its warmth during intense gaming sessions can be uncomfortable. The dual speakers at the top and bottom produce good sound, although positioning the phone sideways while gaming can cover one speaker, reducing the audio output.

An unexpected issue arose while playing the action RPG Diablo Immortal, where the audio occasionally became garbled and echoed. Generally, the touch controls are responsive, but the large fingers of some users may find it challenging to navigate the screen accurately. The Pixel 11 Pro features magnets embedded in its rear cover, known as Pixelsnap, enabling compatibility with various accessories, including wireless chargers.

The phone's 4,850-mAh battery provides a decent gaming experience, with wired charging at 30 watts and wireless charging at 25 watts, which is slower than some competitors but still functional during play sessions.
