Medical device maker Boston Scientific is being hit by a cyberattack. The shares are falling

Boston Scientific, a medical device manufacturer, disclosed on Wednesday that a cyberattack has disrupted its global operations, impacting systems crucial for processing and shipping customer orders. The company only discovered the incident on Tuesday, and it continues to affect its business as it strives to restore normalcy. In a filing with securities regulators, Boston Scientific revealed that it has enlisted external cybersecurity experts to investigate the breach and mitigate the threat.

The cyberattack has resulted in, and will likely continue to cause, disruptions and limitations in access to certain of the Company's information systems and business applications, including the capability to process and ship customer orders, according to the filing. While the Company is diligently working to restore affected functions and systems access, the timeline for a full recovery remains uncertain.

Shares of Boston Scientific dropped by up to 6% in early trading. Cybersecurity researchers from BlackFog, a firm specializing in this field, reported that the healthcare sector is the most frequent target for cybercriminals, accounting for 22% of disclosed attacks in 2025. Boston Scientific, a company that produces a variety of medical treatment technologies such as heart health devices for cancer care and gastrointestinal condition detection, is currently grappling with the aftermath of this cyber attack.
