Justice minister: Institutional maturity, judicial quality key to next phase of commercial court reform

Justice Minister Walid Al-Samaani emphasized that the next phase of commercial judiciary reform will focus on enhancing institutional maturity and judicial quality. Speaking at a meeting with heads of commercial courts, Al-Samaani outlined plans to build upon past accomplishments to improve the quality of services, clarify procedures, and elevate user experience.

He highlighted the strong backing of King Salman and the close oversight by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, stressing the importance of ongoing development and enhanced integration in judicial work. Al-Samaani underscored the necessity of utilizing data and indicators to pinpoint areas for improvement, which would boost judicial outcomes, expedite case resolution, and ensure uniformity in practices.

The minister highlighted that court heads bear responsibility for the quality of their courts' performance and stressed the significance of continuous training and the accumulation of judicial knowledge. Al-Samaani underscored the importance of adopting a user-centric approach, leveraging feedback and complaint outcomes to refine procedures and address persistent issues.

Regarding the future of judicial work, Al-Samaani stressed the need to broaden the use of artificial intelligence to enhance quality, accelerate processes, foresee potential obstacles, and redesign the case journey for more efficient, superior judicial work and a superior user experience.
