Qatar Photography Center, QCAA organise session on drones law

On August 25, the Qatar Photography Center, under the Ministry of Culture, collaborated with the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) to hold an introductory session on Law No. 10 of 2026 regarding unmanned aircraft (drones). The event took place at the center's headquarters in the Cultural Village Foundation - Katara.

Attendees were briefed on licensing and registration requirements, operating procedures, and the duties and obligations of drone users, with the aim of increasing awareness of the legislation governing the sector. The session fostered the safe and responsible use of these technologies in Qatar.

Nayef Al Jaber, Director of the Air Safety Department at the QCAA, presented the objectives of the law and its key regulatory provisions. He emphasized that the legal framework for drones is designed to keep pace with rapid sector developments, ensuring their use adheres to approved regulations and standards.

Law No. 10 of 2026 seeks to balance the growth of the drone sector and investment promotion with safeguarding public security, privacy, airspace, and property. The law establishes a comprehensive regulatory framework, including definitions, licensing systems, mandatory drone registration, and operating regulations. It also outlines the rights, duties, and responsibilities of individuals, companies, and relevant entities, along with penalties for violations.

The session reviewed the law's scope and implementation steps. Organized by the Qatar Photography Center and QCAA, the event reflects their commitment to raising awareness of the legislation and regulations governing drone use, familiarizing participants with applicable legal requirements, and promoting safe and responsible use of drone technology in Qatar.
