Prime Minister confirms Felda forensic audit proposal will be tabled at Cabinet meeting soon

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim revealed that a proposal for a forensic audit into the management of the Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (Felda) will be brought up for discussion at the upcoming Cabinet meeting. This announcement came after Anwar addressed the media following his participation in the National Maulidur Rasul Celebration at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).

The suggestion for this forensic audit stems from Deputy Prime Minister Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who argued that a mere management audit was not adequate, considering the prolonged issues and significant financial losses (in billions of ringgit) affecting Felda's operations. Anwar had previously stated that he would await the final report from the special task force probing Felda's management problems before issuing any official statements.

The task force had commenced its investigation, with its findings anticipated to be presented soon, similar to the report from the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on Tabung Haji.
