Mahama congratulates newly elected Executive Presbytery of Assemblies of God, Ghana

President John Dramani Mahama extended his congratulations to the newly elected Executive Presbytery of the Assemblies of God, Ghana. The honor fell to General Superintendent Reverend Stephen Wengam as the leader of the group. The news came following the 32nd Biennial General Council Meeting of the Church, which concluded earlier this year.

During a visit to President Mahama's residence, the newly elected church leaders presented their credentials to the President. They explained how their election had been announced and sought to thank Mahama for attending the council meeting. They recognized him as the Special Guest of Honour during the event.

Mahama praised the newly elected leaders, specifically Reverend Wengam, for his innovative and decisive leadership style. He noted the significant growth the church had experienced since Wengam took the helm. This growth was a testament to Wengam's effective stewardship of the church.

The 32nd Biennial General Council Meeting took place at the Pentecost Convention Centre in Gomoa Fetteh, Central Region, from August 18th to 22nd, 2026. Other key figures in the delegation included Reverend Kwadwo B Bempah, who was elected as the Assistant General Superintendent, Reverend Albert Anane as the General Secretary-elect, and Lady Mrs Monica Wengam, the wife of General Superintendent and National President of Ministers Wives Association.

The General Superintendent concluded the meeting by thanking Mahama for his long-standing membership in the church. He also expressed gratitude for the support provided by Mahama and his wife. Reverend Wengam pledged that the church would continue to offer prayer support to the first family and the government.
