Soon after, Trump waved the green flag, and the drivers zoomed through downtown Washington, D.C., along Pennsylvania Avenue. Trump, speaking to Fox earlier, said he planned to "make a little circle in a nice, secure car, slightly slower than the ones we're going to witness, but we're going to have fun." This was one of several celebrations this year marking America's 250th birthday, including a UFC fight on the White House lawn, military aircraft flyovers, a Fourth of July fireworks show on the National Mall, and the Great American State Fair.

The IndyCar race featured performances by singer Christopher Macchio, the release of a trained eagle, and flyovers of military aircraft, including a B-2 stealth bomber. Trump's administration has struggled with the ongoing conflict with Iran, which has led to increased gasoline prices and concerns about voter focus on cost-of-living issues.

However, Trump has increasingly focused on the ceremonial aspects of his presidency, including visits to sporting events like the World Cup final. IndyCar series owner Roger Penske, a longtime friend of Trump, played a significant role in bringing the race to Washington, D.C., having tried for 20 years to make it happen.
