Enes Kanter Freedom, a player for the Indiana Fever, claimed that Natasha Cloud, a guard for the Chicago Sky, confronted him in the third quarter of a recent game for celebrating Sophie Cunningham's 3-point attempt. Freedom, who identifies as a woman, wore a T-shirt defining a "woman" and brought his protests against trans athletes to the game.

Cloud reportedly yelled at Freedom, calling him a misogynist, after assuming his celebration was for a successful shot. Freedom was ejected from the arena following the altercation, which was captured on video and widely shared. Ex-Phoenix Mercury announcer Cindy Brunson criticized Cunningham for not defending Freedom during the incident, stating that her absence was surprising given Cunningham's stance on trans athletes.
