CM Devendra Fadnavis Launches Navi Mumbai Police’s Campus Connect Campaign To Fight Drug Abuse Among Students

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the Navi Mumbai Police's 'Campus Connect – Drug-Free Awareness Campaign' on Saturday at D.Y. Patil University's Centre of Excellence in Nerul. The campaign aims to protect students from narcotics by taking anti-drug awareness directly into schools and colleges. Nearly 250 colleges in Navi Mumbai have signed up for the initiative.

The campaign will establish an Anti-Narcotics Committee in each school and college, comprising representatives from the institution and the police, to monitor drug-related activities and conduct regular awareness programs. Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Milind Bharambhe emphasized that drug prevention should begin before youngsters get trapped in addiction.

The campaign's launch included the inauguration of the De-addiction and Rehabilitation Centre, De-command and Control Centre, and Navi Mumbai Airport Police Station. The De-addiction and Rehabilitation Centre, jointly established by the Navi Mumbai Police and Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, will offer medical treatment, psychiatric assistance, and counselling. It will also provide a 10-bed residential facility for intensive treatment and focus on psychological support and rehabilitation.

The Integrated Command and Control Centre, which integrates CCTV feeds from the Navi Mumbai and Panvel municipal corporation areas, as well as the Taloja MIDC region, is now operational. This will strengthen surveillance and aid faster detection and investigation of crimes.

Before the main event, students performed street plays, dance performances, and other cultural activities to convey anti-drug messages. They also took a pledge to stay away from drugs after speeches from Fadnavis and Forest Minister Ganesh Naik.
