Tinubu congratulates Gombe girl on winning Qur’anic competition in Saudi Arabia

President Bola Tinubu praised Maryam Dan’Azumi, a young girl from Gombe State, for her impressive victory in the women's category of the 46th King Abdulaziz International Qur'anic Competition held in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. Dan'Azumi outperformed competitors from 132 countries, earning a prize of 300,000 Saudi Riyal, which is equivalent to an impressive N120 million.

The President commended Dan'Azumi for her exceptional skill in mastering the Holy Qur'an, describing her achievement as both a personal triumph and a source of national pride. Tinubu recalled his sister's own triumph in a similar competition in Jordan in 2024, highlighting how both sisters serve as inspiration to young Nigerians.

He specifically acknowledged the dedication and sacrifices of Dan'Azumi's parents, teachers, and mentors, recognizing the significant effort required to achieve such an exceptional level of Qur'anic scholarship. The President also expressed his appreciation for the organizers and authorities of Saudi Arabia, who provided a platform that promotes excellence in Qur'anic memorization, recitation, understanding, and scholarship.

Tinubu emphasized that Dan'Azumi's victory is a remarkable achievement that brings immense honor to Nigeria and showcases the excellence, discipline, dedication, and intellectual capacity of Nigerian youth. He encouraged her to continue striving for success in her Qur'anic scholarship and future endeavors, and prayed for her continued guidance, protection, and growth in knowledge and wisdom.
