Saudi Arabia condemns Kabul bombing near educational center

President Bola Tinubu expressed his congratulations to Maryam Dan’Azumi, a young woman from Gombe State, for winning the women's category at the 46th King Abdulaziz International Qur'anic Competition in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. Dan’Azumi defeated competitors from 132 countries to secure the prize of 300,000 Saudi Riyal, which is equivalent to N120 million.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised Dan’Azumi for her outstanding performance and mastery of the Holy Qur'an at the prestigious event. He emphasized that her victory was both a personal triumph and a source of national pride, showcasing Nigeria's excellence on the global stage.

Tinubu highlighted that Dan’Azumi's accomplishment followed her elder sister, Hajara Ibrahim Dan Azumi, who won first place in a similar competition in Jordan in 2024. The President acknowledged the sacrifices, commitment, and dedication of Dan’Azumi's parents, teachers, and mentors, recognizing the immense effort required to achieve such an exceptional level of Qur'anic scholarship.

Tinubu appreciated the organizers and authorities of Saudi Arabia for providing a distinguished platform that promotes excellence in Qur'anic memorization, recitation, understanding, and scholarship. He noted that Dan’Azumi's victory is a remarkable achievement that brings immense honor to Nigeria and demonstrates the potential of Nigerian youths when they combine talent with discipline, faith, hard work, and dedicated mentorship.

The President extended his congratulations on behalf of the government and people of Nigeria, stating, "Maryam Ibrahim Dan Azumi's victory in the highly competitive category covering memorization of the entire Holy Qur'an, recitation, Tajweed, and interpretation of all 60 Hizb with Tafsir is a remarkable achievement that has brought immense honor to Nigeria and further demonstrated the excellence, discipline, dedication, and intellectual capacity of Nigerian youths."

He added, "She has made Nigeria proud. Her achievement in Makkah is a powerful testimony to what our young people can accomplish when talent is matched with discipline, faith, hard work, and dedicated mentorship." Tinubu concluded by extending his congratulations on behalf of the Nigerian government and people, saying, "On behalf of the Government and people of Nigeria, I congratulate Maryam on this remarkable victory."

"May Almighty Allah continue to guide, protect, and increase her in knowledge and wisdom, and may her achievement inspire many more young Nigerians to pursue excellence," he prayed.
