Kebbi gov replaces deputy, picks new running mate for 2027

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has chosen Alhaji Ibrahim Augie as his running mate for the 2027 gubernatorial election, replacing Senator Umar Tafida. The decision was made public on Sunday through the state government's X account, with the announcement coming from APC National Organising Secretary Alhaji Suleiman Argungu. Argungu stated that the decision was based on professional legal advice regarding the eligibility of the incumbent deputy governor.

The governor and Tafida reached this decision amicably, with no disagreements between them. Former Kogi State Speaker El-Rufai also supports Augie's candidacy, believing it will contribute to his re-election in 2027. Argungu urged all politicians, APC members, and supporters in Kebbi State to accept the decision and collaborate for the party's success in the upcoming election.

Governor Idris reaffirmed his commitment to unity, support, and cooperation as the administration continues to drive development in the state. Augie, a former Finance Commissioner under former Governor Atiku Bagudu, is from Augie Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
