IIM Ranchi Celebrates 80th Independence Day with Focus on Human Capability, Innovation and Nation Building

IIM Ranchi commemorated the 80th Independence Day with a strong emphasis on human potential, innovation and nation building. The festivities commenced with the flag-raising ceremony by Director Prof. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, who was followed by the national salute to India's tricolour.

Prof. Srivastava, in his address, underscored the rapidly evolving global scenario where education, business and technology are intricately intertwined. He reiterated India's optimistic outlook, projecting the nation's transformation into a developed economy and a multi-trillion-dollar powerhouse by 2047. Prof. Srivastava, however, highlighted that while technological advancements are vital, the human ability to harness and apply them is equally crucial.

He stressed that academic institutions should not merely produce talent but also nurture individuals capable of applying their knowledge to solve complex issues, both in the realms of business and technology and in addressing societal challenges. Prof. Srivastava also highlighted the significance of developing individuals who can adapt to uncertainty, comprehend the unknown, identify emerging patterns, and devise meaningful solutions.

In the context of rapid technological advancements, he pointed out that the ultimate impact will hinge on individuals who can take the lead, understand situations, and utilize technology meaningfully to create a positive impact. Looking back at India's journey since gaining independence, Prof. Srivastava stated that the country has approximately 21 years to fulfill its 2047 vision and expressed belief that, by adhering to its current development trajectory, India can accomplish its objectives.

He urged everyone to actively participate and seize the opportunities at their disposal. The program included a cultural segment featuring students, who presented patriotic songs and performances. The celebrations were attended by faculty members, students and staff from the institute.

IIM Ranchi also organized a series of activities centered around patriotism, national unity and social responsibility as part of the Independence Day celebrations. These endeavours exemplified the institution's commitment to cultivating responsible, capable and socially conscious individuals who can make a meaningful contribution to the nation's progress.
