Two escape unhurt after car catches fire in Vellore

Two individuals emerged unharmed after their car caught fire near the fort complex in Vellore, India, on Sunday. According to police, S. Jayaraj, a local businessman, had returned from Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh after receiving medical treatment when the vehicle's driver, B. Vignesh, 28, spotted smoke emanating from the engine compartment.

Vignesh promptly stopped the car on Anna Salai, away from the fort complex, and both occupants exited the vehicle as the flames rapidly engulfed it. Upon receiving an alert, firefighters and police from Vellore North arrived at the scene. Despite their efforts, the fire ultimately consumed the entire car. The charred vehicle was later removed from the roadway to restore traffic flow.

Police suspect an electrical short circuit as the possible cause of the incident. An investigation is underway, and a case has been registered by the Vellore North police.
