Cops probe alleged damage to statue at Bentong Hindu temple

Policing authorities in Bentong are examining allegations that a statue at a Hindu temple has been damaged, following the circulation of photos online. Police chief Zaiham Kahar stated that the incident came to their attention when the images were shared on social media yesterday, although no formal reports have been filed so far.

The Bentong police headquarters emphasized the seriousness of the matter and pledged to carry out a thorough investigation to determine the cause and identity of anyone involved. They also urged the public to refrain from disseminating unverified information or engaging in speculation surrounding the incident, urging all parties to maintain responsible behaviour and avoid statements or content that could exacerbate tensions, especially those involving racial and religious divides. The Malaysia Hindu Sangam indicated that they were currently investigating the matter.
