Who is Antara Banerjee? Actress held over alleged train clash, razor attack

Antara Soham Banerjee, a Thane-based model, has been at the center of a recent controversy following an alleged confrontation on the Aravali Express. The incident occurred on August 12, as the actress was travelling towards Surat for a shoot. According to the police report, Banerjee was traveling in a sleeper-class ticket but found herself in an AC coach. This led to a dispute over seating, which reportedly escalated between around 9:30 pm and 10:50 pm between Borivali and Dahanu.

The police allege that the disagreement turned violent when Banerjee allegedly used abusive language towards officials. She is said to have produced a razor blade, during which the incident became more serious. RPF assistant sub-inspector Yaminikant Mishra and constable Rajesh Kumar were reportedly injured in the altercation. It is also stated that Banerjee herself attempted to break a coach window and injured herself while trying to leave the train.

She was eventually deboarded at Dahanu and handed over to the Government Railway Police, where she was taken into custody the following morning.

The FIR was registered on August 13, with allegations including assault on public servants, causing harm, endangering safety, and insulting officials. Banerjee was later served a notice and released on bail. The actress's PR team issued a clarification stating that she has no connection with the FIR or the incident, as the person named in the report is Antara Soham Banerjee, a Thane-based model, and not the actress. The PR team apologized for the erroneous identification and the reputational impact it may have caused.
