What’s next for far-right Reform UK after Farage’s by-election win?

Residents of Clacton-on-Sea have expressed mixed reactions to the news that Nigel Farage will be returning as their local MP. Reform UK leader Farage secured a substantial majority in the recent by-election, winning 22,239 votes, while second-placed candidate Count Binface received 9,455. The by-election was boycotted by other major British parties, resulting in a much higher turnout than previous elections.

Farage's victory was hailed by some residents, such as Zak Apsey, who stated that it was a "good result for Nigel" and that it shouldn't have needed to happen. However, others, like Jenny Hopkins, were delighted with the outcome, dismissing criticisms about Farage's financial support. Linda Robinson, on the other hand, felt that the by-election was unnecessary and expressed dissatisfaction with Farage's lack of presence in Clacton.

Max Barrett, who voted for Count Binface, hoped for increased tourism and representation for the area. Sue Wackett felt used as part of a political game by the major parties, while Mary Williams supported Farage, believing he is the only hope for Great Britain. Despite the divided opinions, many residents noted the positive aspect of the whole community coming together to discuss their differences.
