Police chase suspects, recover two pistols, Vikings caps in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has recovered two locally-made pistols and three caps bearing a Viking Confraternity inscription from an abandoned motorcycle in Awka North Local Government Area. The items were seized by officers of the command's Violent Crime Response Unit during a routine patrol near Isuaniocha Bridge on Thursday.

Command spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, announced the recovery in a statement. Two young men riding a black Sanyang motorcycle without a registration number were spotted by the officers. Upon seeing the police, the riders abruptly turned the motorcycle, attempting to evade capture. The police pursued the suspects, who eventually fell from the motorcycle and abandoned it, along with two slippers and a bag, before running into a nearby bush.

A search of the discarded bag led to the recovery of the two pistols and the three caps. Police efforts are now focused on identifying and apprehending the fleeing suspects, as well as determining their affiliations and the circumstances behind their possession of the recovered items.
