Alberta delaying new restrictions on flags in schools, national anthem mandate

These changes were initially set to take effect on September 1st in preparation for the upcoming school year.

The new rules stem from a bill passed in the spring, which the government claims aims to remove ideology from the classroom. However, the government still intends to enforce certain aspects of the legislation come September. These include a revised student code of conduct that outlaws violence and gives the education minister greater authority to set priorities for school boards.

Despite the delays, the Alberta government remains committed to implementing the remaining changes, but it is adopting a cautious approach to ensure a smooth and effective rollout of the new rules.
