Toronto police say 2022 murder suspect who goes by ‘Jay’ linked to attempted killing

Toronto police have identified a suspect linked to the 2022 murder of a Scarborough father, Ding Ping Wang, and an attempted murder that occurred months later in the same Scarborough parking lot. The suspect, believed to go by the name "Jay," is described by investigators as left-handed and having a distinct walking gait. Police released new security footage and an artist's rendering of the suspect, which prompted tips from the public and led to the identification of "Jay."

The suspect allegedly fired multiple shots at a person entering a white Toyota van from a black SUV on March 10, 2023. Police have not determined a motive but believe the two shootings were separate incidents. They are still investigating whether the suspect had access to a black four-door SUV at the time. Police are asking anyone with information about "Jay" or the shootings to come forward.
