Farage declares victory in UK by-election as count continues

Nigel Farage, leader of Britain's populist Reform UK party, declared victory in the Clacton by-election following an ongoing count. Farage had abruptly resigned from parliament last month, seeking a new mandate in this so-called "people against the establishment" election in the southern seaside resort of Clacton. He had faced accusations of not properly declaring millions of pounds received from a wealthy backer.

Farage told supporters that he had won a "resounding victory" and called it "an overwhelming endorsement." However, he informed them that local police had warned of an "organized campaign to disrupt and degrade" the result. The police did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
