Trump says US has ‘total control’ over Strait of Hormuz

US President Donald Trump declared on Wednesday that Washington exerts complete dominion over the strategic Strait of Hormuz, vowing that American forces will likely remain stationed there, according to Anadolu Ajansi. The President shared his assertion via his social media platform Truth Social, describing the ongoing naval blockade as a "wall of steel." He firmly stated that no Iranian military actions can impede this control.

As of Wednesday, US forces have redirected 59 commercial vessels, disabled three, and boarded two to ensure full adherence to the blockade, reported the US Central Command. Trump asserted that Iran's military capabilities have been effectively neutralized, leaving no room for Iran's counteraction.

The West Asia has remained in a state of heightened tension since the US-Israeli conflict with Iran commenced in late February. Iran and the US have yet to reach a definitive agreement to resolve the ongoing confrontation, with the Strait of Hormuz closure persistently impeding global energy supply chains. The United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding in June and initiated negotiations towards a final accord.

However, these talks subsequently faltered due to disagreements regarding security assurances and freedom of navigation through the critically important Strait of Hormuz, a pivotal route for global energy supplies and trade.
