Trump says US has ‘total control’ over Strait of Hormuz

US President Donald Trump declared on Wednesday that the United States holds "absolute authority" over the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, vowing that American forces would likely maintain their presence there. In a statement via his social media platform Truth Social, Trump characterized the ongoing naval blockade as a "wall of steel". He confidently stated, "The USA has total control over the Strait of Hormuz. I think we will keep it. There is nothing Iran can do about it."

According to the U.S. Central Command, as of Wednesday, U.S. forces have redirected 59 commercial vessels, disabled 3, and boarded 2 to enforce compliance with the blockade, ensuring "full compliance with the blockade". Trump claimed that Iran's military capabilities have been neutralized, and noted that tensions have persisted in West Asia since the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran began in late February.

Despite the presence of a signed memorandum of understanding and ongoing negotiations, Iran and the U.S. have not reached a final agreement to end the confrontation, and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz continues to disrupt global energy supply chains.
