Policing authorities in Malaysia have denied allegations of a false statement related to Deputy Police Commissioner Ibrahim Darus. Kuala Lumpur: Police refute claims made through a private Facebook page, stating that Ibrahim never conducted any media briefing at Bukit Aman or issued such a statement. The circulated content utilized falsified images and identity, impersonating the Deputy Police Commissioner to create an impression of a formal police statement.

Such actions risk misleading the public, spreading misinformation, and undermining the credibility of the individual and the police force, according to the statement. Consequently, police have initiated an investigation to identify the party responsible for creating and disseminating the content, including their motives and objectives.

Policing takes the matter of producing, manipulating, or spreading false content using the identity, image, or rank of an officer or team member very seriously. Therefore, the public is advised not to easily believe or spread any unverified information, instead verifying through the police's official channels and reliable news sources, said Noor.

The police also urge the public to be responsible social media users and refrain from spreading content that could create confusion and undermine public security.
