Polis Malaysia has denied claims of a fake statement attributed to Deputy National Police Chief Ibrahim Darus. The deputy police chief's office said the statement was posted through a Facebook account, which was found to be false, and Ibrahim never held any media conference at Bukit Aman or issued such a statement. The content shared utilized a fake image and identity, as well as the position of Deputy National Police Chief to create the impression that the statement was an official police decision.

Such an act can mislead the public, create misunderstandings, and undermine the credibility of the individual and the police institution, according to the statement. Consequently, police initiated an investigation to identify the party responsible for creating and spreading the content, including their motive and purpose. The police view the act of creating, manipulating, or spreading false content using the identity, image, or position of an officer and a member of the force as serious, and they warn the public not to easily trust or spread any information that has not been verified, instead consulting the police's official channels and reliable news sources.
