Malaysia Day 2026 celebration set for Kuching’s Borneo Convention Centre, says Fahmi

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 9 — Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil revealed that the 2026 Malaysia Day celebration will take place at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) in Sarawak. This decision was made during the inaugural preparatory meeting for the event, which was held on Monday with Sarawak Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, the co-chairman of this year's Malaysia Day festivities.

Fahmi highlighted that the venue has been assessed and found to be suitable in terms of space, similar to the PICCA Convention Centre in Butterworth where the celebration was held last year. Speaking to reporters following the Japan@Petronas Jalur Gemilang Expression Programme, Fahmi stated that the preparations for the Malaysia Day celebration are proceeding smoothly, with the next meeting planned for August 24 to delve into further arrangements.

Additionally, he announced that Prasarana Malaysia Bhd has pledged to provide 24-hour public transport services during the National Day celebration in Putrajaya on August 31. Fahmi noted that this is an improvement over previous years, making it more convenient for the public to travel to Putrajaya and return home after the festivities.

Furthermore, he commented that several other infrastructure facilities are set to enhance, and hopes this will encourage more people to attend the National Day event and subsequently return home.
