Samsuri contradicts Hadi, says Bersatu still in PN

Perikatan Nasional's Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar has stated that Bersatu continues to be a part of the coalition, refuting PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's assertion that Bersatu has automatically withdrawn from PN membership. Samsuri clarified that Bersatu's standing within the coalition remains steadfast, despite uncertainties surrounding its membership, following the party's announcement of intentions to establish a new coalition following the Negeri Sembilan polls.

Utusan Malaysia reported Samsuri's assertion. On Friday, Hadi contended that Bersatu is no longer a PN component, citing the PN constitution's provision that any party opting to join or create an additional alliance would consequently lose its membership. This stance was based on Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin's earlier proclamation that the party would forge a new coalition with multiple parties subsequent to the Negeri Sembilan state election.

Bersatu secretary-general Azmin Ali debunked Hadi's claim, stating that the PN constitution does not contain any clause that mandates the automatic withdrawal of a party's membership. Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, the Bersatu information chief, subsequently disclosed that the party intends to submit a report to the Registrar of Societies (RoS) concerning its status as a PN component.

Samsuri dismissed Tun Faisal's threat, emphasizing that it is the decision of the Muhyiddin-led party to proceed with such a move.
