PRN Melaka: BN terbuka rundingan, tukar kerusi, kata Zahid

Pengerusi Barisan Nasional (BN) Zahid Hamidi has stated that the party remains open to discussions regarding the distribution of parliamentary seats, including an exchange of seats with the PRN Melaka, as long as it is done honestly and with sincerity. The principle behind such discussions is that the seats won by any party must be respected and not handed over to their political allies without equal consideration, according to the statement made by Melaka BN Deputy Chairman Ab Rauf Yusoh after the inauguration of the Rungus Cultural Festival in Kudat.

Earlier, Zahid had claimed that BN would retain all 21 parliamentary seats it won in Melaka during the PRN 2021 election. He added that seat swaps involving other states under each party's control could also be discussed, provided the exchange is balanced. He emphasized that while the door for discussions should remain open, it should not be opened too wide or closed completely.

On the same day, PAS President Hadi Awang reported that the Perikatan Nasional (PN), led by PAS, had initiated initial talks with BN regarding the parliamentary seats to be contested in the upcoming Melaka PRN. He reportedly said these talks would take into account the fact that BN did not win any parliamentary seats in Melaka during the 2022 general election.

Ibrahim Tuan Man also supported this view, expressing confidence that any arising issues could be resolved amicably, referring to the informal partnership between BN and PN in the PRN elections for Johor and Negeri Sembilan.
