Thai school shooting: Alleged gunman, 14, was quiet & reserved, raised by 'loving' grandparents

A 14-year-old boy was responsible for a shooting that claimed seven lives, including his own, at a school near Bangkok, Thailand, on August 7. The teen, described as quiet and reserved, had reportedly been bullied at school. According to those who knew him, he had been staying with his grandparents, who raised him since he was young.

On the day of the incident, the boy allegedly killed his grandparents before heading to Debsirin Nonthaburi School. There, he allegedly targeted two teachers, three staff members, and ultimately took his own life. At least 23 others were injured in the attack. The boy's aunt, Samang Chaisorn, stated that he was mostly a quiet individual with few friends.

Upon arriving at the grandparents' home, her aunt and uncle found both grandparents dead, having been shot in the head. The authorities are still investigating the motive behind the attack and how the teenager obtained the gun. In response to the incident, Thailand's education minister, Prasert Jantararuangtong, pledged to strengthen school security measures.
