Marco Bezzecchi reveals “disaster” injury ordeal after smashing Silverstone lap record

Marco Bezzecchi, who smashed the all-time circuit record at Silverstone, has revealed the "disaster" of his injury ordeal following the lap time achievement. The Italian MotoGP rider admitted to struggling with pain and mobility despite posting a time of 1m56.280s in practice for the British Grand Prix. Bezzecchi had previously injured his collarbone and knee in a crash during practice at the Sachsenring last month, which led to his withdrawal from the German GP.

He expressed that he was still struggling with physical fitness, particularly due to his knee injury, which is making the recovery process challenging. Bezzecchi's rehabilitation process, which includes surgeries on both his left knee and broken collarbone, has been tough, with the Italian feeling forced to switch off during his time at home.

He hopes to finish both races at Silverstone but acknowledged that the sprint event, with fewer laps, would require intense effort.
