Trump touts Washington reflecting pool as US midterm battle reaches finale

President Donald Trump utilized the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool as the backdrop for his concluding remarks before the midterm elections. As Democrats sought to prevent a potential shift in Senate control, Trump dedicated over 20 minutes of his speech to detailing the $15 million renovation of the iconic pool, which had seen controversy over faulty work and algae growth.

Trump boasted about numerous other projects undertaken during his administration, including the White House, Marine One helipad, a golf course, and a contentious triumphal arch. He warned voters to choose a party that favors America, stating, "When you vote, remember: a party that hates America cannot be allowed to rule over the people who built our country."

While the House of Representatives seemed a near-certain Democratic win, the closer race for the Senate left Democrats needing to flip four seats to gain control.
