Phillies Send ‘Will Be Missed’ Alec Bohm Message Before Free Agent Exit
The Philadelphia Phillies could be preparing to move on from the long-time infielder as the team acknowledged his pending departure.
The Philadelphia Phillies are navigating a challenging offseason as several of their key players approach free agency. With Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, and Kyle Schwarber among those set to become free agents, President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski must decide which pieces of the established core are worth retaining. Among the impending free agents, outfielder Alec Bohm stands out as a significant decision.
During an end-of-season press conference, Dombrowski expressed that the team would miss Bohm's contributions if he were to leave, as the right-handed hitter consistently drives in 90 runs each year. Bohm, drafted third overall in 2018, has been a valuable regular run producer for the Phillies, but his tenure has also been marred by a few significant low points, including trade discussions.
The Phillies may face the possibility of losing Bohm and other key players, leading to a difficult offseason as they evaluate where to make changes and how to best allocate their resources.
