Why your generated Anki image occlusion cards import as plain cloze (and the one-line fix)

I've been building AnkiForge , a web app that turns lecture PDFs and labelled diagrams into Anki cards. For diagrams it makes image occlusion cards: every label on, say, a heart diagram gets hidden, one card per label. Getting the masks in the right place took most of the work. Getting Anki to treat them as real image occlusion took one line of config, and finding out what that line actually does…

AnkiForge is a web application that transforms lecture PDFs and labeled diagrams into Anki cards. The process involves creating image occlusion cards, with each label on a diagram hidden, resulting in a card for each label. The primary challenge lies in positioning the masks correctly. Achieving Anki to recognize these masks as genuine image occlusion required a single line of configuration, though the implications of that line demanded further investigation - which involved delving into Anki's source code twice.

The build went green because it stopped checking

A teammate deleted a test file on a Friday. Not on purpose. The suite still passed. The pipeline still went green. Nobody noticed for three weeks. Here's the part that should bother you.

A trafficking export can look perfect in Chrome. The progressive MP4 starts, quartile pixels fire, and nobody asks why <MediaFiles> also has a sibling you never clicked. • Mezzanine file essential for SSAI, provides raw material for CTV-safe outputs
  • CSAI uses MediaFiles fetched based on type, width, height, delivery criteria
  • Mezzanine and first-seen transcode crucial for SSAI implementation testing

$3,000 Split Across Nvidia, Broadcom, and TSMC Could Be Worth This Much by 2030

A portfolio of these three leading AI stocks would triple by 2030.

With $3,000 allocated, a diversified AI stock portfolio consisting of Nvidia, Broadcom, and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing could potentially yield substantial returns by 2030. This investment strategy entails purchasing five shares of Nvidia, three shares of Broadcom, and two shares of TSMC, which totals to under $3,000. Should the AI infrastructure expansion persist, this portfolio could be valued at over $9,000 by the end of 2030, marking a more than threefold return within four years.

The primary risk, of course, is an AI slowdown, but currently, growth appears robust, and demand for AI chips far exceeds supply.
