McCown throws for 359 yards, 3 TDs as UTSA beats Navy 38-34

Owen McCown delivered a stellar performance, throwing for 359 yards and three touchdowns, including a crucial 41-yard pass to A Marion Peterson with just two minutes left on the clock. This remarkable effort secured a 38-34 victory for UTSA against Navy in a pivotal matchup. Braxton Woodson contributed on the ground with a 7-yard touchdown run, while the Midshipmen led 34-31 with just 4:50 remaining in the fourth quarter.

McCown then orchestrated a six-play, 75-yard drive, culminating in Peterson's game-sealing touchdown catch. Navy subsequently turned the ball over on downs, sealing the win for UTSA. McCown completed 28 of 38 passes during the game. Key performers for UTSA included David Amador II, who amassed 71 receiving yards on seven receptions, and Mekhi Anderson and Brandon Young Jr., each with a touchdown catch.

Will Henderson III added 78 rushing yards, including a 31-yard touchdown run. Peterson also showcased his versatility with 68 yards on the ground and a short-yardage touchdown. For Navy, Jackson Gutierrez completed two touchdown passes and rushed for 139 yards and two scores. His 92-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Collins gave the Midshipmen an early 27-24 lead in the fourth quarter, and Collins also had a 25-yard touchdown reception that same quarter.

Collins finished with 117 receiving yards. This was the first time these teams had faced each other. Looking ahead, UTSA will take on Tulane on Saturday, while Navy hosts North Texas in a similar situation.
