Terrorism Plotter at Taylor Swift Concert Can’t Sue Disney for ‘End of an Era’ Series, Judge Rules: Report

An Austrian judge has dismissed a legal claim from one of the men convicted of planning a terrorist attack at Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, ruling that he cannot sue Disney for the depiction of his home in the streaming platform's docuseries about the concert tour. The 21-year-old Austrian citizen, identified only as Beran A., was sentenced to 15 years in prison in May for his role in the failed plot to carry out a violent assault on Swift's 2024 Eras Tour stop in Vienna.

The Disney+ series The End of an Era, released in December, featured Swift's reaction to the incident, among other moments from the final shows of the tour. Beran A. claimed in a legal filing that Disney had violated his privacy rights by showcasing an image of his family's home in the series. However, an Austrian judge dismissed the claim on September 30, stating that Beran A. no longer lives in the home and it had not been featured in the series for two years.

Disney's lawyer confirmed that the image in question had been removed from The End of an Era, and that Beran A.'s parents had each received €3,000 ($3,400) in a separate settlement for the use of their home. Beran A.'s legal team intends to appeal the ruling. The terrorist plot was uncovered in Austria in August 2024, with suspects allegedly radicalized by the Islamic State and planning to use knives and homemade bombs during Swift's Vienna concert at Ernst Happel Stadium.

All three Vienna concerts were subsequently canceled. Another suspect, a teenage Syrian national known as "Mohammed A," was convicted by a German court last year for collaborating in the plot and received a suspended sentence of probation.
