Peter Obi demands better facilities for displaced persons in Sokoto

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has urged the Nigerian government to urgently improve living conditions for internally displaced persons (IDPs) at the Ramin Kura IDP Camp in Sokoto State. The camp, which houses over 1,000 displaced families, currently has makeshift shelters, thatched rooms, and inadequate toilet facilities.

Obi visited the camp on Monday, September 29, as part of his two-day tour of the state, and expressed his concern over the poor living conditions and the security challenges that forced the residents to flee their homes. He called on the government and relevant agencies to provide better facilities, including healthcare centers and schools, and to address the security issues that led to their displacement.

Obi emphasized the need for a "New Nigeria" and urged political office holders to spend their holidays within the country to better understand the challenges faced by vulnerable Nigerians.
